Ken McAnlis has been passionate about music all his life. In a career that has spanned more than 20 years, he has played all over the the southeast and performed industry events in Atlanta, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Ken has been bringing these experiences to audiences since the 1980s, as an interpreter of the works of others as well as a critically acclaimed songwriter. He was part of a number of bands in high school and college, playing irregular gigs and occasional events. Upon graduation from University of Florida, Ken played the central Florida club scene till 1993, when he helped form the power pop band Nice Guy Eddie. Ken's six years with NGE produced several recordings and appearances at a number of music industry showcases. NGE eventually was offered a contract from Farmclub records and a chance to appear on their national TV program. Circumstances within the band prevented them from taking advantage of those opportunities, and Ken left soon thereafter. Following stints in a couple other bands, he moved to St. Augustine in 2007 and continues to play as a solo artist. “Music is my life” says Ken. “I love its ability to take you to a place, a state of mind. It can stir passion and emotion like few other things. It can make a connection between people and bring them together. Music takes you on an adventure in life. It can make you laugh or cry, fall in love, or dance with joy, even with the simplest of songs." After thousands of shows, both as a band member and as a solo artist, Ken maintains a schedule of around 250 shows per year. His repertoire consists of pop/rock songs from the 1950s to date, with a healthy dose of Americana/Country and a few “standards”- a set varied enough to fit the needs of virtually any club or event. |
